Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance (DEMA) - One Year On...

1 April 2010 marks the first anniversary of the formation of the Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance Ltd (DEMA)

One year on we have successfully brought the city together, under the banner "Edinburgh Sparkles", for the city’s first collaborative marketing campaign; laid the foundations for our operating systems such as the GLIDE online media office and CRM system; strongly developed consumer social media marketing and blogging activity; set out our 2010/11 action plan; and are strengthening DEMA’s credibility and reputation.

In 2010 we will start negotiations on the integration of DEMA with the Edinburgh Convention Bureau and Edinburgh Film Focus, further strengthening Edinburgh’s city promotion activity by creating a new single organisation.

We look forward to working with you over the coming months.

Edinburgh - Europe's Best Small City of the Future

We launched our new 'Invest Edinburgh Blog' with a post by Cllr Tom Buchanan on fDI Magazine's recent 'Edinburgh, Europe's Best Small City of the Future' award. A prestigious panel of judges voted Edinburgh top of 50 small European cities. The blog will run every week with opinion from the private & public sectors.

Clipper Round The World Yacht Race

Following a successful stopover and a spectacular send-off from Qingdao, the Clipper fleet are on their way to San Franciso on leg 5, one of the toughest of the race. New on board Edinburgh Inspiring Capital are 20 year old Edinburgh Napier University student, Chris Robson, and Julia Taylor, a 33-year-old company director from Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Visitor Survey

The latest analysis from the Edinburgh Visitor Survey is continuing to show positive feedback from our visitors. The overall rating of Edinburgh as a destination is averaging  nearly 9 out of 10 and over 90% believe the UK is as good a destination as other parts of the world.  The full study will be available at  www.edinburghbrand.com

Online Media Office

We have invested in a new online media office to assist our media relations campaigns.  The system, powered by Glide, provides us with a database of real-time journalist information and a press release distribution service.
