Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance e-zine
Dear Welcome to the first e-zine from the Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance (DEMA). As chair of the DEMA board I am very excited about this step-change for Edinburgh, one which will bring about real changes in the way we promote Edinburgh. DEMA is the custodian of the Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Brand and utilising this Brand we will promote Edinburgh to the world as a dynamic and innovative capital city. Our aim is to promote, to the global market, the message that Edinburgh is a highly desirable destination in which to visit, invest, live, work and study. Partnership projects will demonstrate the added value of aligning our promotional activities, these include an Autumn/Winter campaign focussed on leisure, retail and Chirstmas activities followed by a lifestyle Boutique Edinburgh campaign in 2010. There’s much work to be done, but a key starting point is establishing a network of city ambassadors who are championing everything Edinburgh has to offer. Norman Springford (Executive Chair of Apex Hotels Group)

Economic Resilience activity
DEMA has been working closely with the Council and partners to raise the profile of Edinburgh as a location in which to invest and also to proactively address the negative press surrounding the impacts of the global recession on the city’s banking industry. A new economic resilience plan has been launched to help businesses and individuals deal with the problems they are facing. The city recently exhibited at the MIPIM , the world's premier real estate expo. To coincide with MIPIM, a series of articles and adverts ran in a number of targetted business publications including Property Week, European CEO, New European Economy and World Finance magazines reaching approximately half a million high level executives including Company Chief Executives and Chief Financial Officers. |

Partnership working round-up DEMA have been working with VisitScotland over the last few weeks to promote some of the 17 new flight routes flying into Edinburgh this spring. Joint press releases were issued to European markets to promote new routes to Limoges and Dusseldorf. Other Partnership projects working with the Open for Business group on the EH living shopping guide and Leith Walk banners, and augmenting international PR activity with Festivals Edinburgh. |
