Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance
Welcome to 2010!
Dear New Year for me is about the excitement of new beginnings and the anticipation of looking forward, I wish all our partners and supporters a successful and prosperous year ahead. Building upon the success of the Edinburgh Sparkles campaign we aim to enhance Edinburgh’s profile with more proactive and targeted campaigns for 2010 – 2011. Recently we held a series of internal planning workshops to define our programme of activities for the coming year. These will be considered for approval by the Board of Directors on the 21 January 2010. We at DEMA look forward to building on our achievements and the positive partner relationships fostered in 2009. Our aim is to further raise Edinburgh’s strong international profile as a world class place to visit, invest, live, work and study - lets ‘go for it’ together . Kenneth Wardrop BA (Hons) MBA MTS |

Edinburgh Sparkles
We have now finished the implementation phase of Edinburgh Sparkles - the first collaborative marketing campaign for the city! We used a variety of PR and marketing tools to fully maximise this integrated campaign including; airport advertising in four London airports, promotions with UK-wide print media and a co-promotion with STV which was shown during X-Factor. We also secured branded image-led features with quality daily press and placed advertorials in key Scottish media titles. |
![]() | Late Winter Media Relations Activity Here at DEMA HQ we are turning our sights to our promotional activity for 2010. DEMA's intention is to develop a campaign similar to Edinburgh Sparkles for summer 2010 (June to August), which we’ll be in a position to speak to you about in the coming weeks. We are also keen to work with you to help promote activity that you are planning between January and March 2010. We can amplify your promotional messaging through national and international media coverage, as well as through online promotion. We are looking for you, our city partners, to let us know what you are doing and when! Then based on this information we will then explore with you how we might be able to engage with our media contacts in generating interest. In this partnership approach DEMA will apply its resources to this broader message amplification. Examples of the type of activities you might be undertaking include; special room rates or 'value add' packages, new collection or retail offers, the launch of new products, awards, events, Valentine/Mother'sDay/Easter Specials, Exhibitions, new exhibitions or additions to visitors attractions, open days, anything that you would want the world to know about your company! This is not an exhaustive list and we are more than happy to explore any ideas you might have. Please email lindsey.taylor@edinburghbrand.com |
